Florida Theme Parks Announce COVID-19 Closures

Florida’s theme parks and other attractions are temporarily closing because of COVID-19 concerns. Here’s what we know so far…

Walt Disney World

Disney announced Thursday that it will close Walt Disney World for precautionary measures. The parks will close at the end of business Sunday, March 15, and last through the end of the month.

Disney World Hotels will remain open until further notice. Additionally, retail and dining at Disney Springs at Disney World will remain open.

Disney has changed its fees policy to make it easier to reschedule vacations. The information is available on the Disney website.

Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando Resort announced they will temporarily close its parks, effective at the close of business on Sunday, March 15. Park officials said they expect their parks to remain closed through the end of the month.

Universal Orlando’s hotels and Universal CityWalk will remain open.

Vacation packages bought for travel between March 4 and August 31 may also be canceled with no fee, provided the cancellation is done at least 24 hours before arrival.

Seaworld Orlando

Seaworld Orlando is closing its theme parks effective Monday, March 16 through the end of the month.

Legoland Florida

Legoland Florida announced Friday it will temporarily close its theme park and water park from Sunday, March 15 through the end of the month.

Legoland also is waiving date-change fees for vacation packages booked between March 9 through April 3 for travel dates through December 31.

Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is closing its park from Monday, March 16 through the end of the month, according to a statement released Friday.

Kennedy Space Center

The Kennedy Center Visitor complex remains open and is operating on its normal schedule.
