A new exit is being planned for I-75 in Liberty Township, Ohio.

Local and state authorities are working to secure funds for a new interchange at Millikin Road and I-75, located between the Hamilton-Liberty Way and Monroe-Lebanon exits.

The project aims to upgrade the existing two-lane bridge on Millikin Road over I-75 to a five-lane bridge. It will also add new exit ramps in both north and south directions, with hopes of spurring commercial growth near the highway, according to local officials.

Currently, the area around Millikin Road and I-75 is mostly undeveloped or residential. Liberty Township administrator Caroline McKinney envisions transforming this space into a hub for jobs and commerce with the new interchange opening up opportunities for development.

Key I-75 Project Details Include:

  • New exit lanes on both directions of I-75
  • Roundabouts planned for Butler-Warren Road and Cincinnati-Dayton Road
  • A diverging diamond design, similar to the Union Center Boulevard Interchange in West Chester
  • Five lanes for traffic on Millikin Road from Butler-Warren to Cincinnati-Dayton Road, complete with a bike lane and sidewalk

Construction is anticipated to begin once funding, estimated at $40 to $50 million, is secured. Additionally, officials will first need to acquire the necessary land rights, a process slated to begin in 2025 and expected to take up to two years.

While construction is ongoing, minimal disruption to I-75 commuters is expected, though exact details are yet to be determined.

Looking ahead, local officials see the new I-75 interchange as the initial phase in transforming the area into a center for jobs and commerce, potentially unlocking more than 700 acres for commercial development in Liberty Township.
