The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorists on I-75 in northwest Georgia of a night detour off I-75 North at Carbondale Road/Exit 326 in Whitfield County, scheduled for Thursday, January 12, 2017.

Traffic will be detoured off the northbound lanes of I-75 onto Carbondale Road to accommodate work on setting the beams on the new bridge over I-75. This detour will be in place from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. It is weather permitting and subject to change.

This bridge work is part of a project to widen and reconstruct a roundabout on Carbondale Road, beginning west of Redwine Cove and extending Tilton Road. It also includes the construction of a bridge over I-75. Work on this project began late December 2015.

The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of September 2018, at a construction cost of $18,139,653.
