The Ohio Department of Transportation reports that lane and ramp closures on I-75 South started this week to repair the bridge that carries the 5th Street (S.R. 264) exit ramp from the 6th Street Viaduct over a ramp from I-75 South to I-71 North/Second Street.
On August 16, the left lane of I-75 South to Exit 1B – I-71 North/U.S. 50 East – was closed while contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation complete pavement markings that will be used for traffic control during repair work.
Lane restrictions were be lifted at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, and crews returned Wednesday evening to begin work to repair the structure that was damaged from an overheight vehicle.
Single-lane closures will be in place under the bridge, and the ramp will be closed to traffic, from 9:00 p.m. each night to 5:30 a.m. the following day through Friday, August 26. Restrictions will not be in effect Saturday, August 20, or Wednesday, August 24, but during periods of closure, motorists will be detoured via Exit 1A and Second Street to I-71 North/U.S. 50 East.
Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work zones and restrictions. All work is contingent upon the weather.
