I-75 Lane Restrictions, Ramp Closures, Detours in Dayton Area This Week

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that the following construction projects are anticipated to affect I-75 in the Dayton area (Montgomery County) this week. All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

I-75 Reconstruction in Moraine (SR 725/U.S. 35)

About this project:

I-75 will be reconstructed between S.R. 725 and U.S. 35.  I-75 will experience major reconstruction including a traffic pattern shift, ramp closures, and lane restrictions in each direction. This project includes new pavement, storm sewers, lighting, and minor bridge repairs. Estimated completion: Summer 2025.

New Impacts:

Interstate 75 Ramp Closure – The ramp from Dryden Road to I-75 Northbound will be closed Monday, April 21 from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22. Crews will be working on the roadway as part of the on going construction project. 

Continuing Impacts:

Interstate 75 Lane Closure/Shift â€“ Expect I-75 in both directions to remain shifted to the outside between Edwin C. Moses Boulevard and U.S. 35 to allow for median repairs. Median repairs are expected to be completed by the end of May 2025. All work is weather dependent. 

Interstate 75 Lane Closures â€“ Expect intermittent overnight double lane closures on I-75 in both directions between SR 725 and U.S. 35 from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. starting Sunday, April 13 through August 2025. Crews will be working on concrete and guardrail repairs.

Interstate 75 Lane Closures – Expect intermittent single lane closures on I-75 in both directions between SR 725 and U.S. 35 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. starting Monday, March 10 through August 2025. Crews will be working on concrete and guardrail repairs.

Interstate 75 Lane/Ramp Restrictions – Expect intermittent single lane closures and ramp restrictions on I-75 in both directions between SR 725 and U.S. 35 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. starting Monday, March 10 through August 2025. Crews will be working on concrete and guardrail repairs.

I-75 Rehabilitation in Dayton (S.R. 4/ Needmore Rd.)

About this project:

I-75 will be reconstructed between S.R. 4 and Needmore Road.  I-75 will experience major reconstruction including a traffic pattern shift, ramp closures, and lane restrictions in each direction. This project includes rehabilitation and installation of new pavement. Estimated completion: Summer 2027.

Continuing Impacts:

Needmore Road Ramp Closure â€“ The Ramp from Needmore Road to I-75 South will be closed from Monday, March 24 through May 2025. This closure is necessary to reconstruct I-75 in this area.

  • Detour:
    • Needmore Rd to N Dixie Dr to Stanley Rd to I-75S

Wagner-Ford Road Ramp Closure â€“ The Ramp from Wagner-Ford Road to I-75 South will be closed from Sunday, August 25 through June 2025. This closure is necessary to reconstruct I-75 in this area.

  • Detour:
    • Wagner Ford Road to Keowee/N. Dixie Dr. to Stanley Ave. to I-75 South 

Interstate 75 Lane Shift – Expect three lanes on I-75 in each direction between Needmore Road and SR 4. Southbound traffic in the left lane will cross over into a contraflow lane on the northbound side just north of Needmore Road starting Monday, May 6 through April 2025. Vehicles in the contraflow lane will not have access to the following exits: Needmore Road, Wagner-Ford Road, Stanley Avenue, SR 4 and SR48/Main Street. Crews will be completing work on the interior median and reconstruction of the southbound travel lanes. This new traffic pattern will maintain three lanes of traffic in each direction.

Interstate 75 Lane Closures – Expect overnight intermittent lane closures on I-75 in each direction between Needmore Road and Leo Street from April 2024 through December 2025. Lane closures will be from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Thursday nights as needed. Crews will be completing roadway and barrier repairs as part of the ongoing reconstruction project. 

New Impacts:

Interstate 675 Lane Restrictions â€“ Expect overnight lane closures on I-675 in both directions at Alex-Bell Road from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22. Crews will be painting the bridge overhead.

State Route 444 Lane Restriction â€“ Expect the exterior lane to be closured on SR 444 South at SR 4 starting Thursday, April 24 through June 2025. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction. Crews will be working on the bridge.  

State Route 4 Shoulder Closure â€“The shoulder on SR 4 in both directions at Valley Pike/SR 444 will be closed from Thursday, April 24 through June 2025. This closure is necessary to complete bridge painting. 

CONTINUING IMPACTS:

Interstate 75 Ramp Closure – The ramp from I-75 South to SR 4 will be closed starting on Monday, April 7 through Thursday, April 24. The city of Dayton will be repairing a watermain line below the roadway.

    • I-75S to SR 48 N Main St to SR 4
