The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports that the following restrictions will be in place tonight and tomorrow as part of the I-75/Mill Creek Expressway Project – Phase 8 to implement a contraflow lane on I-75 between the Towne Street overpass through the S.R. 562/Norwood Lateral interchange.
Among other features, Phase 8 of the Mill Creek Expressway calls for the replacement of three railroad bridges and a minor realignment of I-75 lanes to accommodate a new railroad bridge pier location on I-75.
To begin work on the structure over I-75, crews will establish a contraflow lane by moving the left lane of southbound I-75 to the left lane of northbound I-75. Traffic on I-75 North has already been shifted, and the median crossover has been built. To open the contraflow lane, crews will complete striping and install concrete barrier tonight and tomorrow night, and the following restrictions will be in effect:
Thursday, December 12:
- Single-lane closure (right lane) on I-75 South from Paddock Road to the S.R. 562 ramp, starting at 8:00 p.m., followed by double-lane closures beginning at 11:00 p.m., with all lanes open to traffic by 6:00 a.m. Friday, December 13.Â
Friday thru Sunday, December 13-15:
- Single-lane closures on I-75 North and South, between Paddock Road and the S.R. 562 ramp, starting at 8:00 p.m., followed by double-lane closures beginning at 11:00 p.m., with all lanes open to traffic by 6:00 a.m. the following day.
- Short-term full closures on I-75 between midnight and 4:00 a.m. the following day. Traffic will be maintained with law enforcement officers.Â
- The contraflow lane is expected to be open to traffic by 6:00 a.m. Saturday, and restrictions on Saturday and Sunday will only be in effect if needed. An update regarding any additional traffic impacts will be issued as warranted by the crews’ schedule.
Monday, December 16:
- Single-lane closures on I-75 North and South, between Paddock Road and the S.R. 562 ramp, starting at 8:00 p.m., followed by double-lane closures beginning at 11:00 p.m., with all lanes open to traffic by 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 17.
The exit from I-75 South to the Norwood Lateral will remain open; however, southbound motorists will not be able to exit onto S.R. 562 from the contraflow lane.
The shifted lanes and the contraflow lane will be in effect through May of 2026, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2027.
The I-75 Mill Creek Expressway is series of projects that will widen and resurface I-75 between the Western Hills Viaduct and S.R. 126, as well as complete interchange improvements at multiple locations. The Mill Creek Expressway projects have been split into 14 phases, some of which have been completed, and the phases have not been completed in order.
