Lane Restrictions, Ramp Closures, Detours for I-75 Work in Ohio

The Ohio Department of Transportation reports that the following construction projects are anticipated to affect state highways in Montgomery County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

Interstate 75 Bridge Repairs –  I-75 Bridges over Edwin C. Moses Boulevard and Carillon Boulevard near the Great Miami River in Dayton are scheduled for repairs in September 2020. I-75 will experience a traffic pattern shift, ramp closures and lane restrictions in each direction. Estimated completion: Fall 2022

NEW IMPACTS:

Interstate 75 Bridge Replacement – Expect right lane closures on I-75, in each direction, between Arena Park Drive and Cincinnati Street on Monday, October 26 through Saturday, October 31, from 8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Additionally, there will be a 15-minute road closure on Edwin C. Moses Blvd. Monday through Friday, from 8:00 p.m.- 6:00 a.m. The Contractor will be saw cutting the bridge deck and removing the bridge deck and beams over Edwin C. Moses Blvd. for the reconstruction.

CONTINUING IMPACTS:

Interstate 75 Bridge Repairs – Expect a traffic pattern shift on I-75 northbound between Albany Street and State Route 741 (Springboro Pike) on Sunday, October 4, 2020, through Friday, October 15, 2021. Three lanes of I-75 northbound will shift to the right of the Interstate. On Friday, October 16, 2020, through Friday, October 15, 2021, traffic on I-75 southbound will shift onto I-75 northbound from Stewart Street and then shift back at S.R. 741 (Springboro Pike) in Moraine. There will be two 10’ thru lanes on I-75 southbound along the median wall. 

Interstate 75 Bridge Repairs – The Edwin C. Moses Boulevard entrance ramp to I-75 southbound will close on Friday, October 16, 2020, through Friday, October 15, 2021. The Contractor will be working on the I-75 southbound bridge over Edwin C. Moses Boulevard and the bridge over the Great Miami River. Detour: Edwin C. Moses Boulevard to Dryden Road to I-75 southbound

Interstate 75 Bridge Repair – Expect nightly lane restrictions in Vandalia on I-75 at Northwoods Boulevard, in each direction, on Sunday, July 26, through Saturday, October 31 from 8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. The contractor will be painting the Northwood Boulevard Bridge over I-75. The vertical clearance has been reduced to 16’-0. Traffic will be maintained.


Interstate 75/Albany St. Bridge & U.S. 35 Ramp Repairs –  Construction to replace the Interstate 75 mainline bridge over Albany Street and the bridge deck of the U.S. 35 westbound exit ramp to I-75 southbound, began in the fall of 2019.  Estimated completion: Summer 2021.

CONTINUING IMPACTS:

Albany Street Bridge Replacement – Albany Street will close between Campbell Street and Kirkham Street Airway until Monday, August 31, 2021. Barricades and detour signs will be in place to maintain traffic.

Interstate 75 Pavement Repairs – Expect multiple single-lane closures on I-75, in each direction, between Albany Street and S.R. 741, on Sunday, October 25, from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. The contractor will be applying thermoplastic stripping. Traffic will be maintained.

U.S. 35 Ramp Restrictions – U.S. 35 westbound exit ramp to I-75 southbound will experience lane width restrictions from Wednesday, October 14, 2020, through Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Expect the lane to be 11’ wide. The ramp will remain open.

UPCOMING IMPACTS:

Interstate 75 Bridge Repairs – I-75 will experience lane closures, in each direction, between Washington Street and Third Street, on Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 6 from 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. Expect the I-75 southbound exit ramps to U.S. 35 eastbound and westbound will close on Wednesday, November 4 through Friday, November 6 from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. On Monday, November 2 through Friday, November 6, expect both U.S. 35 entrance ramps to I-75 northbound to close from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Detours will be posted. Crews will be sealing the decks on I-75. Traffic will be maintained during lane closures. 

  • I-75 NB Ramp Detour: Take I-75 SB to the Edwin C. Moses Blvd. (Exit 51) turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto Edwin C. Moses Blvd. and take the next left to enter I-75 NB.
  • U.S. 35 WB/EB Detour: Take I-75 SB to Edwin C. Moses Blvd (Exit 51) turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto Edwin C. Moses and take the next left to enter I-75 NB. Follow signs to U.S. 35 WB/EB.
