Heading to downtown Cincinnati this weekend to take in a game or any one of a number of activities in the city? The key will be to plan ahead if traveling I-75 North afterward, as the highway’s northbound lanes will be closed for a pavement rehabilitation project.

Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will be closing I-75 North between the off-ramp to S.R. 562 east and the on-ramp from S.R. 562 West for crews to install a series of piles in the construction of a load transfer platform system to correct the pavement “dip” in this section of interstate.

The closure will go into effect beginning at 10:00 p.m. tonight, October 4, and continue until 3:00 a.m. Monday, October 7. Although the signed detour will be by way of S.R. 562 East, I-71 North and I-275 West, thru traffic from Kentucky will be directed to follow I-71 upon crossing the Brent Spence Bridge, and local motorists traveling north from downtown Cincinnati may opt to follow any one of several alternate routes, including I-71 or I-74 West to I-275.

So, whether you’re heading downtown this weekend to check out the Bengals at Paycor Stadium or FC Cincinnati at TQL; Ray LaMontagne and Gregory Alan Isakov or Elle King at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center; Brad Williams at the Taft; or any of the city’s other venues and restaurants just plan ahead, allow extra time for your return trip, and – most importantly – be patient.
