The mega I-75 project in Lucas and Wood counties reaches a major milestone. With milestones, comes traffic impacts planned for the first weekend of November.

Bi-directional I-75 traffic, between South Ave. (Exit 200) and the Anthony Wayne Tr. (Exit 201B), currently maintained on the southbound lanes of I-75 will be moved to the newly constructed northbound lanes of I-75. There will remain two lanes of traffic in each direction, with the exception of the traffic switch weekend, which will have I-75 reduced to one lane in each direction from Friday, November 1 at 8pm through Monday, November 4 at 6am.

Friday, November 1 at 8pm:

  • Through Monday, November 4 at 6am: I-75 between Miami St. (Exit 199) and the Anthony Wayne Tr. (Exit 201B) will be reduced to one lane in each direction for traffic pattern change
  • Through Saturday, November 2 afternoon: northbound I-75 ramps to/from South Ave. (Exit 200) close for striping

What will change:

  • I-75 traffic will remain bi-directional, shifted to the newly constructed northbound lanes
  • Ramp from South Ave. to southbound I-75 closes Monday, November 4 through 2020. Detour: northbound I-75; Detroit Ave. (Exit 203B); southbound I-75
  • Ramp from northbound I-75 to Collingwood/Erie (Exit 201A) will reopen in mid-November

What stays the same:

  • Ramp to/from northbound I-75 to/from South Ave. (Exit 200) remains open (except for striping Friday night into Saturday)
  • Ramp from Collingwood/Erie to southbound I-75 remains closed through late summer 2020
  • Ramp from southbound I-75 to South Ave. remains open

While most of the reconstruction work in this area is complete, in 2020 there will be a 10-day closure of the Erie St. intersection at the southbound I-75 on-ramp for reconstruction of this intersection. Due to the other local projects restricting access to this neighborhood this year, the work was pushed to 2020.

Southern section of I-75:

  • A traffic pattern change for the southern section of the mega I-75 project will be announced. During that traffic switch, the bi-directional I-75 traffic, between Buck Rd. (Exit 197) and Wales Rd. (Exit 198), currently maintained on the southbound lanes of I-75, will be moved to the northbound lanes of I-75. There will remain two lanes of traffic in each direction, with the exception of the traffic switch weekend, which will have I-75 reduced to one lane in each direction. At that time, the ramp from Buck Rd. to northbound I-75 will reopen
  • The ramp from South Ave. to southbound I-75 will close Monday, November 4 through 2020. Detour: northbound I-75; Detroit Ave. (Exit 203B); southbound I-75
